2020 Legislative Session Accomplishments

During the 90 day Legislative Session the following individuals and groups came before the Black Caucus to discuss diversity within their agency, opportunities for minorities, or raise an issue that is affecting people of color.

  • Hosted Monumental Bar Association and celebrated the annual MLK ceremony at the Banneker Douglas Museum in Annapolis
  • Hosted the annual Nathaniel Exum Youth Day with over 250 students with a theme of “Keeping our students safe”
  • Participated along with 34 other colleagues in the Breakfast with the Governor 
  • Hosted HBCU night at Morgan State University

  • Collected Toiletries for the Veterans Charlotte Halls
  • Created a Black Caucus “We are all in this together” video
  • Participated in a briefing from John Hopkins regarding health and racial disparities 
  • Meet with Comcast and Verizon
  • Meet with the Maryland Black Caucus Foundation 
  • Hosted HBCU Presidents roundtable 
  • Hosted Being Black in America 2020
  • Hosted Racial and Health Disparities of COVID-19 Town Hall
  • Hosted Black Business Roundtable Town Hall
  • Hosted Veterans Symposium 
  • Hosted virtual legislative weekend
